Just a Little Poetry

by • October 8, 2011 • Arts & CultureComments (1)1006

I’ve realized that there has been a lack of the arts in the Arts & Media section. In order to rectify this little predicament, I decided to put up some of the work that I’ve been doing in my poetry workshop.

Forgive me for the rhyme scheme, which could use some work. I’ve edited it a little bit but the meter is longer than a typical sonnet should be. Oh well…

Suzanne, our Artistic Engineer (doesn’t that sound fancy), created the cartoon, which accompanies the poem. That way, we get two forms of art with one post. Efficient!!!

I hope you all enjoy my poem. Feel free to leave a comment below telling me what you think.

Candyland

Cartoon by Suzanne Severance

The alarm rings to summon me out of bed.
My body’s on earth, my mind’s in the clouds.
The coffee smells great, always clears my head,
But I’m still not ready, the noise is too loud.

The world is boring, all the fun is in the mountains
Where the adventures happen, I’ll save the day.
When it is over, fear not. We’ll begin again.
Why weigh yourself down? Go out and play.

There’s a world out there filled with song
People sit in circles and forget the worry,
All the world together. they all get along.
No one fights, there’s no stress, no hurry.

Will I ever find this place? Who knows?
I hope I will, it’s a place I’d like to go.
