It should be first said that it is a given that Jim’s Rocks, but it deserves to be alongside the others. But in case you didn’t know, Jim’s is iconic to the city of Brighton. It deserves the reputation because the service, chefs, and ownership earn it. At no restaurant can you find such a diversity of choices, in such great numbers, decent prices, and with greasy, juicy love cooked so carefully into each bite.
Jim’s is a family owned, American style restaurant located on Washington St. Any restaurant that can last two decades and three economic recessions is owed a second glance. It has been serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner to the greater Boston area since the H. W. Bush days.
Not only does it have a strong menu, but its atmosphere and service exceeds typical standards as well. Upon walking in, you feel as though you are in high school again, or at least I do. It has a classic cafeteria style bar from which you order tray in hand and a massive chalkboard hoisted above fryers, flat top grills, and cutting boards. Under the glass, there is an array of homestyle goodies: mac n’ cheese, mashed potatoes, and potato stuffing, among others.
But their best comes made to order by the chefs. Some Rock favorites include The Chicken Deluxe Sandwich, the Irish Breakfast (with everything), the Cheeseburger Club, their omelets, the Turkey Dinner, the Reuben, and the Steak Tips, just to name over a half dozen. Go to Jim’s your stomach and fat ass will be happy you did.
